Perfect night in the park for the last concert of the year! Mark Rees is getting set up and so is the Muny Band!
Remember, no Concert in the Park this week with Homecomers! We will be back in the Park for our last concert of the season on August 4th at 7 pm. Special guest will be Hometown musician Mark Rees!
Rees is a graduate of Jackson High School and started playing the guitar when he was six years old. Growing up, Rees and his mom, dad and sisters played at many local churches and other events around the area with a band known as The Rees Family Band.
From the mid 1980's through the early 1990's, Rees was a member of the Santa Cruz Band. Rees if a self-taught musician who has a remarkable talent for writing and performing origianal songs. He has participated in the Song Writer's Showcase concert, sponsored by Old Towne Cape. If you enjoy good country and western music by a phenomenal local talent, do not miss this concert.
Bring your lawn chair or a blanket and join us in the Park at 7 pm.
Getting ready to start the concert at Jackson Homecomers!
Next week will be a different schedule for the Muny Band! It’s Homecomers week in Uptown Jackson.
We will play Tuesday evening, opening night on the stage at 6:00 pm! There will not be a concert in the park on Thursday evening. Come enjoy The Muny Band and Homecomers with us!
Thursday, July 21st our weekly concert will begin at 7:00 pm. and will feature the musical talents of Doug E Rees.
Rees has found a comfortable niche among the many talented singer/songwriters in Nashville, TN, playing a variety of acoustic venues honing his skills and fusing folk, country, blues and pop influences into his own unique style.
Honest direct lyrics that reveal life's challenges, triumphs and tragedies became Rees' strong suit. However, Rees does not always fit what many consider the "typical singer/songwriter" mold, given his comfort level when sharing the stage with the likes of Lee Oskar, Kimberly Dahme, and Jeff Baxter, or fronting his own popular blues band on festival stages. Whatever your musical tastes, Rees has you covered.
The Jackson Municipal Band's portion of the concert will consist of a variety of music that will include overtures, marches, showtunes, popular tunes and some rock and roll. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating on the hill and some snacks and drinks (no glass containers) to enjoy at the Nick Leist Memorial Band Shell as you listen to Doug E Rees and the Jackson Municipal Band. This will be a great evening of summer musical entertainment. As always, the Jackson Municipal Band concerts are free and the Thursday evening concerts start at 7:00 pm.

The Jumper Cables are an acoustic trio that play a blend of jazz, country, western swing, blues and old-time fiddle tunes. The members are Steve Schaffner, Ben Belanger and Kyle Clay.
At ease on the concert stage, music festivals or other venues, they will play music that will appeal to all age groups.
Bring a lawn chair or Blanket and join us in the park this coming week!
